Broncos Evaluation: Flaws in secondary uncovered in loss to Baltimore Ravens

BALTIMORE — In 2015-16, the Broncos’ move protection was first within the NFL in fewest yards allowed. They put opponents in a vise grip with their mixture of rush, protection and ball expertise.

Looks as if a very long time in the past, doesn’t it?

Opposing quarterbacks making massive performs and posting excessive completion percentages towards the Broncos continued to be the norm throughout Baltimore’s 27-14 win over Denver right here Sunday.

And apart from the 13 penalties, that ought to grow to be the foremost story-line from the Broncos’ first loss: They’ll’t cowl on a constant foundation. Their depth, believed to be suspect throughout coaching camp and confirmed by the late August addition of 34-year outdated cornerback Adam Jones, isn’t as much as the group’s typical commonplace.

“Our whole again finish has to play higher vs. the move,” coach Vance Joseph mentioned after the Broncos had been denied their fourth Three-Zero begin in six years. “They couldn’t run it, so that they threw it.”

And threw it and threw it and threw it.

Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco was 25-of-40 passing for 277 yards. He accomplished 62.5 % of his makes an attempt. He didn’t throw an interception.  Final week Raiders quarterback Derek Carr accomplished 91.four % of his passes, an NFL document for a participant with not less than 30 makes an attempt.

“That’s two weeks in a row,” Joseph mentioned. “We now have to shore it up on the again finish and play a lot better.”

Play a lot better or else the Broncos are in bother.

“It’s a collective group effort, however it does begin with us,” security Justin Simmons mentioned.

The move rush is just efficient if the quarterback has to survey the sector. Final week, the Broncos might defend the shortage of a move rush (one sack) as a result of Carr threw so rapidly. But it surely’s not like he was forcing throws. His targets had been getting open.

The identical type of factor occurred Sunday. The Ravens had a number of long-developing performs when the safety held up, however Flacco additionally took benefit of quite a few breakdowns within the secondary. He picked on rookie cornerback Isaac Yiadom, inactive in Weeks 1-2, however energetic Sunday due to Jones’ thigh harm and Tramaine Brock’s first-quarter groin harm.

By three video games the Broncos have allowed quarterbacks to finish 69.5 % of their passes and submit a 102.2 ranking. Evaluate that to only two years in the past — 55.four % completion fee and a 69.7 ranking.

The Ravens had 5 “explosive” completions (not less than 16 yards), bringing the Broncos’ whole to 16 allowed.

So the questions had been requested across the M&T Financial institution Stadium customer’s locker room: What’s the problem? And may or not it’s solved?

Gamers will at all times say one thing is fixable. They’re additionally loath to publicly pinpoint the issue since which means lambasting their teammates.

So I’ll say it.  The problem is personnel. This isn’t the Broncos secondary of cornerback Aqib Talib and security T.J. Ward of their primes. And linebacker Brandon Marshall was restricted towards the Ravens due to a hard knee harm.

Is the sport plan a problem? Is it too advanced? Is that the rationale why gamers had been nonetheless directing site visitors till proper earlier than the snap?

“It’s already quite simple,” cornerback Chris Harris mentioned. “It may’t get extra easy.”

Harris provided that the Broncos’ protection has turn into to too easy. “They know precisely what we’re in,” he mentioned. “We now have to attempt to trick them.”

Assist isn’t on the best way — anyone who can cowl in a pass-happy league is underneath contract. And groups don’t commerce good secondary gamers, both. If Jones and Brock are out towards Kansas Metropolis, Yiadom will once more get the No. Three cornerbacks snaps.

“I simply need to get higher,” Yiadom mentioned. “I’m not tripping about it. I’m studying each time I get an opportunity to be on the sector. I am going into each single sport assured. That’s not going to vary.”

Possibly the Broncos want to vary their strain man ideas and implement six- and seven-man blitzes to power the problem and make sure that Yiadom and cornerback Bradley Roby don’t need to cowl for lengthy. A seven-man strain on third down towards Flacco compelled him to throw incomplete.

Three video games is sufficient of a pattern dimension for a development and the Broncos’ move protection development is disturbing.

The loss was disturbing and units up a essential two-week stretch for the Broncos on the whole and Joseph particularly. Now we get to see how the Broncos get to deal with actual adversity (an everyday season loss) and actual issues (penalties).

When undefeated Kansas Metropolis arrives subsequent Monday to Mile Excessive, it can carry an undefeated document and star-in-the-making quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who has 13 touchdowns, no interceptions and a sensational 137.four ranking.

Even after a single loss, pondering, “Uh-oh,” isn’t an indication of panic as a lot as it’s acknowledging actuality. Common and flawed groups just like the Broncos can’t enable quarterbacks to carry out with pin-point accuracy.

“Simply not enjoying effectively proper now (towards) the move,” Marshall mentioned. “I don’t suppose we’re enjoying with nice method. We now have lots to repair.”

Evaluation: Taking one final guess on the Seahawks’ 53-man roster as cutdown day looms

It’s throughout now however the slicing.

With the fourth and closing preseason recreation fortunately within the books, a desultory 30-19 loss to the Raiders, the Seahawks and each different NFL group now go in regards to the job of paring their roster from 90 to 53 by Saturday at 1 p.m. Seattle time.

Right here’s one final guess at the way it could look.

QUARTERBACK

KEEP: Russell Wilson, Brett Hundley.

Most Learn Sports activities Tales

Limitless Digital Entry. $ 1 for four weeks.

CUT: Alex McGough, Austin Davis.

COMMENT: The Seahawks are clearly going to maintain Hundley after buying and selling a sixth-round choose for him earlier this week. It’s exhausting to see them preserving three. However you by no means know if they could initially determine to try this simply to ensure Hundley is prepared. Extra possible, the Seahawks reduce Davis and waive McGough with the plan that they’ll get McGough again on the apply squad. Davis isn’t eligible for the apply squad however he may additionally not have an enormous market and the Seahawks may really feel they’ll return to him in some unspecified time in the future if want be.

TAILBACK

KEEP: Chris Carson, Rashaad Penny, C.J. Prosise, Mike Davis, J.D. McKissic.

CUT: Gerald Holmes, Justin Stockton.

COMMENT: I’ve gone with 5 for some time now and I see no cause to vary. I believe the group desires to maintain McKissic but additionally will want the depth to account for him whereas McKissic is out with a damaged foot — which given the timeline means not less than for the primary few video games. Carson and Penny are locks, although Penny additionally performed only one preseason recreation and the Seahawks may wish to hedge towards having to ask an excessive amount of of him early. Davis is reliable and had an excellent camp. Prosise wasn’t overly flashy in camp however he was there for nearly all of it and likewise received numerous work on particular groups, which might appear to be a should for him to make the group and which he appeared to do nicely sufficient to earn a spot.

FULLBACK

KEEP: Tre Madden.

CUT: Alex Marx.

COMMENT: Madden performed sparingly however coach Pete Carroll stated Thursday that they know sufficient about him at this level. Marx is sorta intriguing given his pedigree as a conventional blocking fullback at Stanford. But it surely’s exhausting to see the Seahawks making that transfer but, particularly since Madden can also be a key particular groups participant. Having written all that, the Seahawks can use their tight ends in some fullback roles — notably Vannett, who did it some final week towards the Vikings — and in the event that they really feel assured in that they may nicely go with out a fullback.

TIGHT END

KEEP: Ed Dickson, Nick Vannett, Will Dissly.

CUT: Tyrone Swoopes, Clayton Wilson, Kyle Carter.

COMMENT: Dickson stays on the Non-Soccer Harm listing and if his harm lingers the roster make-up of tight finish — yep that’s what I additionally wrote final week and the week earlier than and the week earlier than. However the Seahawks have stated it’s not too late for Dickson to be prepared for the season, and for now, Dickson/Vannett/Dissly appear to be locks with Swoopes a practice-squad man once more and potential depth down the street. However the Seahawks might hold Dickson on NFI — through which case he’d be out the primary six weeks — and hold Swoopes, or much less possible, Carter.

WIDE RECEIVER

KEEP: Doug Baldwin, Tyler Lockett, Jaron Brown, David Moore, Brandon Marshall, Amara Darboh.

CUT: Marcus Johnson, Cyril Grayson, Damore’ea Stringfellow, Caleb Scott, Keenan Reynolds, Malik Turner, Marvin Bracy.

COMMENT: The primary 5 on the listing above seem locks, leaving solely the query of whether or not retains greater than 5 after which who the sixth could be in query (sorta exhausting to see greater than six being stored at this level). That Darboh didn’t play towards the Raiders was exhausting to learn. On the one hand, it meant he didn’t play all the preseason, which is clearly not preferrred. Conversely, Carroll appeared to point that the group has seen sufficient out of him to really feel comfy it has the data wanted to decide, and Carroll additionally talked of Darboh being prepared down the street, although he additionally stated the group hopes it may hold him round, indicating it’s not a performed deal. The Seahawks might put him on Injured Reserve however then he’d be performed for the yr — they’d should hold him on the preliminary 53-man to have the ability to IR him and produce him again later. I’ve gone forwards and backwards on this however I’m considering Darboh hangs round they usually suppose they’ll get sufficient of who they need —- two or three of Johnson, Stringfellow, Turner and Reynolds — on the apply squad to maintain them within the fold.

OFFENSIVE LINE

KEEP: Justin Britt, Ethan Pocic, Germain Ifedi, D.J. Fluker, Duane Brown, George Fant, Rees Odhiambo, J.R. Sweezy, Joey Hunt.

CUT: Jordan Roos, Willie Beavers, Skyler Phillips, Marcus Henry, Isaiah Battle.

IR: Jamarco Jones.

COMMENT: The itemizing above goes to come back with the caveat that the best way I’ve it there will not be how it will initially look however might be the way it takes care of just a few days. Jones, as an illustration, may nicely make the preliminary roster in order that the Seahawks might then place him on IR and produce him again later — they’ll’t try this if he goes on IR initially. The Seahawks additionally might reduce Sweezy then simply deliver him again in a day or so to create the spot to maintain Jones lengthy sufficient to have the ability to get him to IR a bit of later (as a vested vet, Sweezy wouldn’t undergo waivers so there wouldn’t be the priority of shedding him that approach the best way there could be with youthful gamers). The beginning 5 are set, and Fant appears a given to make it. The way in which Carroll talked about Sweezy he seems positive to be on the roster by the Denver recreation. Odhiambo didn’t do quite a bit within the preseason however he has expertise at each guard and deal with, the type of versatility wanted in a backup. Carroll appeared to speak about Hunt after the Oakland recreation — when he performed middle, guard and deal with — as if he’s on the roster, too.

DEFENSIVE LINE

KEEP: Jarran Reed, Frank Clark, Nazair Jones, Rasheem Inexperienced, Tom Johnson, Branden Jackson, Shamar Stephen, Quinton Jefferson, Erik Walden, Poona Ford.

CUT: Ricky Ali’ifua, Joey Ivie, Josh Forrest.

PUP: Dion Jordan.

COMMENT: The massive query right here could also be if the Seahawks hold 9 or 10 defensive linemen. In the event that they hold 10, then there may be simply room for Ford, an undrafted rookie free agent who had a stable coaching camp. The remaining appear givens, although Walden didn’t play Thursday with a hip flexor after two sacks towards the Vikings and that might be price watching.

LINEBACKER

KEEP: Bobby Wagner, Ok.J. Wright, Shaquem Griffin, Barkevious Mingo, Jacob Martin, Austin Calitro.

CUT: Emmanuel Beal, Jake Pugh, D.J. Alexander.

COMMENT: This spot appears a reasonably simple name at this level. Martin and Mingo are additionally rush ends in nickel packages whereas Calitro was a preseason standout and will likely be Wagner’s backup. Griffin is the backup to Wright however the possible starter for not less than week one with Wright having had arthroscopic knee surgical procedure on Monday.

CORNERBACK

KEEP: Shaquill Griffin, Justin Coleman, Tre Flowers, Dontae Johnson.

CUT: Byron Maxwell, Neiko Thorpe, Akeem King, Trovon Reed, Jeremy Boykins, Elijah Battle.

COMMENT: Right here’s one other place guess that comes with some caveats. Primarily, I’d doubt the Seahawks go lengthy with simply 4 corners and can scour what’s on the market to get one other one — and be mindful additionally that Seattle might hold just a few of these above on the apply squad. However after Byron Maxwell missed the Raiders recreation, which means he didn’t play in any respect within the preseason, I’m considering the Seahawks reduce him so that they don’t have to ensure his $ 950,000 wage for the season in addition to pay him a $ 100,000 bonus if he’s on the roster week one. Carroll referred Thursday to Maxwell as not having the ability “to compete for it” as a consequence of his accidents, which appeared ominous for him. However once more, I’d doubt they’d go together with 4 corners for lengthy.

SAFETY

KEEP: Bradley McDougald, Delano Hill, Tedric Thompson, Maurice Alexander.

CUT: Tevon Mutcherson, Lorenzo Jerome, Mike Tyson.

RESERVE/DID NOT REPORT LIST: Earl Thomas.

COMMENT: McDougald and Thompson are givens and Alexander appears to have sewn up his spot with the group additionally with the ability to use him at weakside linebacker, the place they’ll want depth with Wright out the primary week or so. Hill had a sporadic preseason nevertheless it looks as if it’d nonetheless be too early to surrender on him given the wants at security. Additionally taking part in into it’s what the group could know or take into consideration Thomas’ scenario that we don’t. What sort of strikes the Seahawks make at security over the weekend might tip issues off some.

SPECIAL TEAMS

KEEP: Sebastian Janikowski, Michael Dickson, Tyler Ott.

CUT: None,

COMMENT: Nothing to see right here.

Boston Celtics evaluation: For Jayson Tatum, Terry Rozier & Celtics youth, playoffs ‘will form their careers’

BOSTON — The expectations are coming for the Boston Celtics.

In some unspecified time in the future, this precocious staff will probably be anticipated to win. In some unspecified time in the future, the Celtics could have greater than 4 years of expertise between three of their starters, and they are going to be anticipated to complete a first-round sequence in opposition to the No. 7 seed earlier than the seventh sport.

However for now, on this Egyptian-plagued season, the Celtics get one thing of a go. You’ll be able to’t very effectively ask a staff nonetheless in its NBA infancy to out of the blue be a full-blown NBA grownup, doing adult-but-mundane issues like paying the heating invoice or profitable a first-round sequence during which you’re closely favored by seeding or getting your taxes in by April 15. Actual duties are rather a lot to placed on a child.

Besides the Celtics obtained their taxes in and received their first-round sequence, and in case you ask them about going through stress regardless of their youth, they do not acknowledge it.

“The one time anyone has introduced it up is once they talked to the media,” Brad Stevens stated earlier than Recreation 7. “So we’re very centered on what we now have to do to do our job effectively on either side of the ball.”

Sure, Brad, as a result of the media is to be blamed for gawking at this squad. Semi Ojeleye simply guarded one of many 5 finest gamers within the NBA successfully. Terry Rozier went from back-up level guard to starter, and he put collectively a satisfactory imitation of Kyrie Irving. Jaylen Brown led a No. 2 seed in postseason scoring as a second-year participant. Rookie Jayson Tatum regarded round at a roster bereft of its two stars (and in addition Brown within the second half of Recreation 7) and steadily grew to become all the things the Celtics want.

Stevens has taken to answering questions on Tatum by saying one thing like “he is actually good” in a what-else-do-you-want-me-to-say sort of means. In Stevens’ protection, he has been requested if Tatum has shocked him this yr a minimum of 10 instances at this level. However within the media’s protection, we do not completely know what we’re seeing, and we might use some path from a a lot smarter man (like Stevens!).

This is what we all know: The Celtics’ younger gamers are excellent now. They’re able to profitable video games within the common season — a complete lot of video games, actually — and after Saturday, we all know they’re able to going through must-win playoff video games as effectively.

Issues loom on the horizon. Brown’s standing for Recreation 1 in opposition to Philadelphia on Monday is unsure. Stevens allowed for the likelihood that he could possibly be out in his post-game press convention, and whereas Brown insisted he expects to play, he additionally insisted on returning to the ground at halftime to attempt to heat up. Watching Brown attempt to hobble-run from sideline to sideline was sufficient to make a wholesome particular person’s hamstring sore.

If Brown sits, the Celtics’ expectations drop even additional, particularly in opposition to an equally precocious Philadelphia 76ers battering ram. The Sixers have regarded like a two-way juggernaut, whereas the Celtics have regarded like well-coached staff that begins 4 gamers on rookie contracts.

However the Celtics definitely did not appear intimidated after Recreation 7. They both do not know any higher than to concentrate on the second, or they do not care. Both one is a constructive.

“They’re rising up,” Al Horford stated, sounding for all of the world like he was speaking about adolescent offspring. “This expertise is in contrast to another. Being within the playoffs, the kind of stress, the kind of depth. I really feel like it will form their careers within the NBA. They see the extent of dedication and the way in which you must play. It’ll make them higher gamers. It is all for the most effective.”

They’re studying, too. Halfway by means of the second quarter, Rozier began to cross over in opposition to Matthew Dellavedova to go over a display from Horford. As a substitute of constant the transfer, nevertheless, Rozier pulled it again and spun to his left. Dellavedova bumped in Rozier’s wake as he cashed in a one-foot floater.

On the finish of the bench and wearing all black, Irving was chatting with Guerschon Yabusele when Rozier began to make his transfer. Because the third-year guard spun, Irving reached out and grabbed Yabusele’s arm. When Rozier’s floater dropped in — a shot that regarded like one thing Irving would have created — the Celtics’ star rose to his toes and swung his fist in celebration as he and Yabusele pretended to carry one another again.

Irving has made himself accessible to Rozier through the offseason if the younger guard wants instruction. There are few gamers higher geared up for large moments than Irving, whose Three-pointer to beat the Golden State Warriors might have been one of many 10 largest pictures in NBA historical past.

However generally, youth must forge its personal path. In contrast to a staff just like the Raptors, the Celtics do not have an actual sense of the load of the playoffs, they usually do not have any cause to really feel it but. 12 months after yr of playoff appearances stretch earlier than Brown, Tatum and Rozier. They’ll be within the postseason rather a lot. For now, the Celtics are unfastened and younger and having fun with themselves, and in opposition to the Bucks, that was sufficient.

After the sport, the vibe was completely satisfied however subdued — a staff that achieved a aim it anticipated to realize, as a result of why would it not count on anything? The locker room cleared rapidly, till all that was left was Marcus Morris — an eight-year veteran taking part in in simply his second playoffs who definitely does perceive how uncommon a postseason win may be. Morris was requested how he loved his first Recreation 7 expertise, and for a number of seconds, he simply nodded repeatedly, uncharacteristically misplaced for phrases.

“Because it was my first one, it was in all probability the most effective sport I ever performed,” Morris lastly stated.

Subsequent yr, expectations are going to choose this staff. Irving and Gordon Hayward will return, and after the way in which Brown, Tatum and Rozier carried out this season, the Celtics will be thought-about actual contenders with the entire questions and narratives tied to that label.

However the Celtics are having fun with their expectation-free basketball adolescence. On Saturday, they grew up a little bit, however they ensured that this in-between stage can proceed just a bit longer.

NBA Playoffs 2018: Scores, highlights and evaluation from Wednesday’s Cavaliers, Jazz and Rockets wins

Playoff-palooza continued with a trio of Recreation 2s on Wednesday.

Within the first sport, LeBron James completely went off, ending with 46 factors, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. It turned out the Cavs wanted each single a type of factors, as they escaped with a 100-97 victory, regardless of main by 16 within the opening quarter. The Pacers

After that one, the Jazz went into OKC and stole Recreation 2 from the Thunder to even their collection at 1-1. The Massive Three of OKC struggled, capturing a mixed 19 of 58 from the ground. In the meantime, Ricky Rubio hit 5 3s, Derrick Favors had a monster double-double and Donovan Mitchell led the best way with 28 factors.

Within the third and remaining sport, the Rockets made simple work of the Timberwolves to take a 2-Zero lead of their collection. The Timberwolves did maintain a five-point lead after the primary quarter, however after that it was all Rockets, as they gained by 20 factors. Chris Paul bounced again from a troublesome efficiency in Recreation 1, ending with a game-high 27 factors.

NBA playoff scores for Wednesday, April 18

Recreation 2: Cavaliers 100, Pacers 97

The Cavs did find yourself altering their beginning lineup, going with LeBron James, Kevin Love, George Hill, Kyle Korver and J.R. Smith.

Ty Lue mentioned after Recreation 1 that the Cavs wanted LeBron James to be aggressive and set the tone early. That’s precisely what he did, scoring the Cavs’ first 16 factors in simply 5 minutes. It was the greatest first 5 minutes to any sport in LeBron’s profession.

He continued the sturdy play all through the sport, ending with 46 factors, 12 rebounds and 5 assists, because the Cavs evened the collection with a 100-97 victory.

The Pacers battled again from the massive deficit early, and had an opportunity to tie within the closing minute, however Victor Oladipo missed a large open Three-pointer. A giant issue within the sport was Oladipo solely enjoying 28 minutes as a consequence of foul bother.

Recreation 2: Jazz 102, Thunder 95

Donovan Mitchell was questionable heading into Recreation 2 as a consequence of a foot harm, however the rookie guard did find yourself beginning, which was nice information for the Jazz. Mitchell dropped 28 factors because the Jazz stole one on the highway to even up the collection. Extra impressively, 13 of these factors got here within the fourth quarter to assist the Jazz safe the win.

It was an exhilarating backwards and forwards sport, however the Thunder simply did not get ok performances from their Massive Three. Russell Westbrook, Paul George and Carmelo Anthony mixed for simply 54 factors on an abysmal 19 of 58 capturing.

In the meantime, the Jazz position gamers stepped up. Ricky Rubio hit a surprising 5 Three-pointers and completed with 22 factors, 9 assists and 7 rebounds, whereas Derrick Favors posted a monster double-double with 20 factors and 16 rebounds.

Recreation 2: Rockets 102, Timberwolves 82

The Timberwolves began off effectively in Recreation 2, taking a five-point lead after the primary quarter thanks to chill dunks like this from Andrew Wiggins. Sadly, it was all downhill from there.

The Rockets outscored the Wolves by 20 factors within the second quarter, and cruised from there. James Harden shot simply 2 of 18 from the sector, however it did not matter, because the Rockets gained, 102-82.

Chris Paul bounced again from a troublesome Recreation 1 to attain a game-high 27 factors. Gerald Inexperienced additionally had a robust sport off the bench, ending with 21 factors and 11 rebounds.

Analysis Of Kentucky Basketball And Their Season’s Accomplishments

Rankings are one of the most truthful ways to judge what the best at something is. Some of the time, as with keyword ranking or search engine ranking, the rankings are extremely difficult to argue with because they’re based entirely on data and opinion never enters into the rankings. However, in college sports that isn’t the case because rankings are picked by writers in the media and by coaches, and more often than not the tournament plays out in a way that disagrees with the rankings. One of the greatest college basketball programs of all time is the Kentucky Wildcats, who have won seven national championships and are the first school to have been victorious in two thousand games in their history. However, recently Kentucky had been on a downward swing with a bad coach and a dearth of talent befitting the greatest program in history, a problem which was solved in the season that ended in the spring.

Two years ago, Kentucky didn’t get invited to the season ending NCAA tournament for the first time in almost twenty years, a disappointment that cost the coach, named Billy Gillispie, his job. Directly after the firing, the athletic director knew that he had to make a brilliant new hire because if another coach he hired failed, he might get fired as well. It appeared that the candidate list for new coaches in fact only included one person. A couple days after the previous coach was ousted, Kentucky announced the hiring of one of the most winning coaches in the modern era, John Calipari of Memphis.

As soon as he was brought in, living up to his reputation as a great recruiter, Calipari brought to the team a slew of talented freshmen, resulting in Kentucky having the number one ranked recruiting class at the end of the recruiting period. Among these freshman was John Wall, a man who had been picked out for greatness since he was in middle school and was almost immediately dubbed the best point guard in the college division. Also there was Demarcus Cousins, a massive 6’11 center from Alabama with a fiery attitude on the court and gaudy points and rebounding stats to back it up. These high school superstars becoming members of the team raised expectations to an insane level in Kentucky and around the nation for a team that would be one of the youngest in the NCAA, and Kentucky started out the year ranked as high as number three and as low as fifth.

The season went largely as expected, as it turns out. In his first season in charge Calipari presided over a team that went through the Southeastern Conference season with a mere two losses, away at South Carolina and away at Tennessee. Following that brilliant run through the regular season, the team went on to a win in the Southeastern Conference tournament, held this year in Nashville in front of a crowd consisting of mainly traveling Kentuckians. Following that achievement, the Wildcats earned a top seed in the NCAA tournament for the first time in recent history.

The NCAA tournament, however, was a slightly different story to the rest of the previous games. Kentucky destroyed, its first three opponents in the tournament, Eastern Tennessee State, Wake Forest and Cornell. But, when it was to the round of the Elite Eight things went wrong and the Wildcats cold shooting, including going three for twenty three from three point range, ended the exciting season against West Virginia. Despite the minor disappointment of not reaching the Final Four, it appears national title number eight is on the horizon for Kentucky.
